AI in Construction and Project Delivery
According to a new report from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), 41% of UK architects are currently using artificial intelligence (AI) on at least some of their projects. However, investment in AI research and development remains low.
The report also found that 54% of architects expect to use AI in their practice within the next two years.
Bentley Systems is integrating artificial intelligence (AI) with Building Information Modelling (BIM) in its iTwin platform to create intelligent, responsive systems and enhance project delivery and asset performance in construction. The platform allows for dynamic representations of infrastructure and offers detailed operational data for decision-making.
Bentley's technology also streamlines processes, reduces errors, lowers costs, improves sustainability, and fosters a more efficient approach to construction.
The integration of robotics and AI technology in the construction industry is revolutionising the way buildings are designed, constructed, and maintained. Start-up Monumental is one company leading the way in automating construction processes, specifically in robotic bricklaying.
The use of AI automation in construction brings numerous benefits such as improved energy efficiency, reduced costs, increased productivity, and enhanced safety. However, there are challenges and limitations to implementing AI technologies, such as the initial costs and potential job displacement.
Overall, AI automation is reshaping the construction industry and paving the way for smarter, safer, and more sustainable buildings.
The article explores the potential role of generative AI in the preparation and assessment of construction claims in the Middle East construction industry. It discusses the benefits and limitations of using generative AI in this context.
Artificial intelligence (AI) technology can improve construction site safety by accurately identifying risks, monitoring real-time progress, detecting hazards, and making informed decisions to address safety issues. Traditional safety measures are often insufficient in today's tech-driven world.
AI can also enhance training, optimise task planning, and utilise wearable devices and virtual reality to improve worker preparedness for hazards. IoT sensors and AI can play a key role in making construction sites safer by monitoring, analyzing, and responding to safety threats in real time.
AI-driven technology can mitigate safety risks and create a safer and more efficient work environment in the construction industry.
A recent survey reveals that the construction industry in the Middle East is increasingly adopting digital technology, driven by the need for infrastructure, a shortage of skilled labor, and demands for transparent data. The report highlights the use of digital twins, drones, and AI data analytics as key technologies transforming the industry.
However, the adoption of drones in the region is still in its early stages, and there is a cautious approach to the transformative impact of AI. Going forward, the industry will need to increase its technological adoption to align with government ambitions for a digitized economy.
The article discusses the barriers faced by artificial intelligence (AI) in project communities and highlights the importance of technology evolution for successful implementation.
